For uploading spatial datasets – Have the user who is uploading create fully annotated cell types throughout the tissue. I don’t think visiting users will be interested in re-segmenting public datasets because it is so tedious and likely won’t be necessary for most people.

So it seems that the desire is for a spatial dataset uploader, which would cater to differing levels of processing of the spatial dataset. The idea is that some uploaders would have prepared their datasets outside of gEAR but there may be some that would like to perform basic image processing within the uploading step. To me, I think supporting varying levels of dataset processing may be a bit much, but I think if we provide specific requirements then we can ensure that the uploader has done the necessary processing before the upload, or gotten their dataset to a state where image processing can be done in a uniform fashion in the upload.
