building dynamic lib with existing openssl #414

I'm trying to build the sdk as a dynamic lib re-using the already install openssl like:

cmake -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE="Debug" -DUSE_OPENSSL=ON ../aws-iot-device-sdk-cpp-v2

during which i see

if i don't specify -DUSE_OPENSSL=ON the whole sdk builds and installs ok, but as soon as i try to use the libraries in another application i see a missing references to OPENSSL_free as well.

any hint on where to look ?

if i look at

after 2 days of searching found that I had an old openssl include directory located in /usr/local/include/openssl which got picked up before the libssl-dev package ones in /usr/include/openssl

it's working now.

It looks like you might be missing -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX="<absolute path sdk-cpp-workspace dir>"

Also what OS are you trying to build this on?

If I'm checking out the repository at

/home/jeteye/test/awsiotsdk

so i have the aws-iot-device-sdk-cpp-v2 right under that (/home/jeteye/test/awsiotsdk/aws-iot-device-sdk-cpp-v2 ) and i create a build directory like /home/jeteye/test/awsiotsdk/aws-iot-device-sdk-cpp-v2 what should be the DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX ?

I've tried

but it still has that problem. It may be related to something in my environment, just can't find what it is yet.

after 2 days of searching found that I had an old openssl include directory located in /usr/local/include/openssl which got picked up before the libssl-dev package ones in /usr/include/openssl

it's working now.
