fix(checkbox,switch): prevent scroll when space is pressed

What is the current behavior?

Toggling the switch or checkbox with the spacebar will scroll the page downwards which is undesirable.

What is the new behavior?

Scrolling does not occur when toggling with spacebar. I have also improved the type safety to remove some uses of any.
